ASG Offroad Propane Mount Installation Guidance

*Read all steps including sub-sections prior to installation*

Tools you'll need to have at the ready...

  • 3/32" allen wrench
  • #4 allen wrench
  • 8mm wrench or low profile socket
  • 10mm wrench or socket
  1. The first step involves removing the two latch plates on the corner where you will be mounting your propane tank mount kit.
    1. Using the 10mm wrench and the #4 allen wrench, remove the two latch plates (pictured below).
  2. Now assemble the mount by loosely fitting together the propane tank carrier to the included Super Pacific mount using the 3/32" allen wrench and 8mm wrench (or low profile socket).
    1. You'll want these bolts snug but not tight as you'll need to adjust the tank carrier once mounted to ensure the hatches open and close without issue.
    2. Make sure to use the enclosed washers (10 total) on both sides (nut side, and screw head side) to optimally secure the carrier to the mount.
  3. Attach the assembly to the Super Pacific using the included screws...you can reuse the washer and nylock nut from the Super Pacific hardware if you'd like.
    1. You'll want these bolts snug but not tight as you'll be adjusting the latch plate to mate with the latches on the hatch in the next step.
  4. Now you'll adjust the latch plates to ensure proper alignment with the latches on the hatch.
    1. This may vary slightly from camper to camper but you'll want the latch plate "loop" to properly align with the latch on the hatch as shown below.
  5. With the assembly mounted up to the camper lets adjust the tank carrier to ensure proper function of the hatches by centering the carrier in between both of the hatches.
    1. Pro-Tip...you'll want to push down on the edge of the hatch that is the furthest away from the mount.  IE - For the side hatches you'll push down on the area of the hatch that has the latch that is closer to the front of the truck.  This will induce a flex on the hatch that will make the panel protrude to its max length.  You'll do this on the rear hatch as well when adjusting for clearance.
    2. Make small adjustments until both panels clear the tank carrier.
  6. Now for the hardest part (but we're almost done).  Tighten up the hardware that attaches the carrier to the Super Pacific bracket, being careful to not misalign the carrier.
    1. Verify function of the hatches before moving to step 7.
  7. Attach the trim protector to your propane tank and snip off any excess material.
  8. Test fit the propane tank in the mount where the ring (where you put the trim guard) slides in between the notches on the carrier.  Some times the carrier will need to be adjusted to allow for the trim protector or different steel tanks.  The easy way to do this is with a screw driver with a paper towel wrapped around it to prevent marring the surface finish.
  9. Place your propane tank in the mount to adjust the retention strap latch and tighten the locking nut...you'll want this snug enough where the clasp gives you a satisfying lock but NOT where you have to turn into the Terminator to latch it shut!
  10. We're almost done!!  Now that the retention strap is adjusted and your tank is secured, insert the cotter pin to prevent accidental unlatching.  There will be a little bit a flex in the carrier when loaded with a tank and this is normal/expected...nothing to worry about.
  11. This is the most important part…step back and admire your new ASG Offroad Propane Tank Mount, and prepare for your next adventure as All Systems are Go for Offroad!
