ASG Shop Truck build
Welcome to the all things ASG Offroad truck build!! This page is dedicated to detailing everything that has gone into the ASG Offroad shop truck, a 2019 Toyota Tacoma TRD Offroad. After purchasing the truck in 2021 it quickly started transforming into what it is today and continues to evolve...even after statements like "Ok...she's finally done!" Below is a write up of everything (from what we can recall) that makes it what it is today. Our hopes in putting this page together is to prevent other from facing some of the challenges that we've had along the way. Have a gander at the below, and you'll also see that I've hyper linked many of the items for additional information. Know that there may be better deals had on sites like Amazon or directly from the manufacturer themselves...I'll leave that research to you though.
Ok...we separated everything in to categories so there is a bit of organization in how this reads. Starting with the easiest...the interior...
Interior Modifications

- Provides wireless Apple Carplay and an absolute MUST for the 2019 Tacoma!

- WeBoost cell phone signal booster.

- These are attached to the hood using the ditch light mounts from CaliRaised Offroad.
- ARB Twin air compressor.

- I wired them this way so I can continue to utilize them while also using the factory high beam switch.
- Auxiliary power inside the cab of the truck...
- Garage door controller mod
- Expedition Essentials dash mount
- Boost gauge for super charger (super charger info below)
-
GMRS radio - Midland MX575
- Mounted in glove box with ethernet port on center console for a clean look. I modified the handset to magnetically attach to the Expedition Essentials dash mount.
- I started with the ghost antenna at first and then upgraded to the 6db gain antenna. If you have the vertical clearance...jump for the 6db antenna and you won't regret it. If you don't have the vertical clearance, check out the ASG Offroad low profile antenna mount!
Exterior Modifications (the meat and potatoes!)
Let's start under the hood and work our way back...
-
Under the hood...
- LAZ fit upgraded LED headlight bulbs - These were likely one of the first modifications that we did to the truck and HIGHLY recommended.
-
Magnuson Super Charger - This was a more recent addition and very much worth every penny. It gave the truck a little more pep back in its step after being loaded with all of the gear.
- I have it monitored in the cab with a boost gauge and with the custom tune from Quoc at TK-421 Tuning (in the Southern California area) and it pushes about 7PSI.
-
ARB Twin Compressor with the under the hood mounting bracket There are many different styles on the market. The one I have has been discontinued.
- Custom FDM (3D printed of carbon fiber reinforced nylon) fuse panel and AUX Beam mounting plate
- On this mounting plate I have a power distribution block that runs from the starter battery to three terminals; one for the ARB air compressor, one for the AUX Beam switch panel, and one for the Rough Trails Equipment Power Wall Elite.

-
Suspension...and remainder of the exterior.
- 285 Nitto Ridge Grappler tires
- Method "316" Wheels
-
King 2.5 adjustable shocks with heavy rear leaf packs with Camburg upper control arms
- This is something I wished I would have done early on opposed to the other iterations that we've had (spacers, airbags...etc.).
-
Upgraded bump stops - Sumo Springs
- These make a world of difference when off road.
-
Power Brake big brake kit
- This was a reactive purchase due to some sketchy trail running where our factory brakes started to fade, likely due to how heavy the rig is. Once installed, it was a noticeable difference in stopping power with zero brake fade.
-
Victory 4x4 roof rack
-
Last but certainly not least...the livable space...
-
Super Pacific X1 camper
- This is arguably the keystone of the entire build.
-
Rough Trails Equipment - Power Wall Elite
- If the Super Pacific X1 is the keystone of the build...the Power Wall Elite is the heart and what gives the entire build life while off grid powering all the things!
-
ASG Offroad lighting kit
- Providing zone lighting for the "upstairs", "downstairs", and the "porch".
