ASG Offroad AuxBeam Captain Switch Mount Installation Guidance
*Read all steps including sub-sections prior to installation*
-
The first step assumes you've already run the control wire through the firewall on the driver side and you've mounted the control panel to the Captain Switch Mount itself.
- Pro-tip...the top of the mount has the hook like feature that will allow it to hang from the headliner. This will prevent you from accidentally mounting it in the incorrect orientation and have to fix it down the line during the install.

-
You'll then begin with fishing the wire up the A-Pillar to the head liner by taking off the A-Pillar panel. To remove this panel (on a 2019 Tacoma TRD Offroad) you'll pop off the Airbag tab to reveal a 10mm bolt. Take this bolt off and the panel will allow you to take it off.

-
Note that you'll first pull the upper part of the panel towards the passenger side and then wiggle it upward. This may take a little finagling.
-
When reinstalling the A-Pillar panel make sure to note the two prongs on the bottom that will help guide the panel back in to place.

Now, you'll fish the control wire up the A-pillar following the existing wire harness to the headliner. You'll then use your fingers to push the control wire in between the headliner and the roof (where the headliner meets the windshield) with your fingers.

-
Once you get near the rearview mirror you'll want to remove the Tacoma's control panel. The panel is held in place by four push pins (one in each corner) and may require a bit of force to remove.
-
Be careful to not let the assembly fall as it may damage the wire harness that it's connected to.

-
Once free, disconnect the wire harness and set the panel aside.

-
We're now in the home stretch! You'll connect the control module to the control wire you routed through the headliner. Then hang the Captain Switch Mount from the headliner (with the moonroof shade moved back).
-
It's recommended to tuck the control wire above factory wiring harness (shown below) to keep it out of the way and preventing it from interfering when you reinstall the Tacoma control panel.

Now you'll reconnect the Tacoma panels wiring harness, line up the panel and clip it in.
- This may take a little finagling as well...those clips can sometimes be a pain to realign. Once everything is seated, give the panel a light tug to make sure that it's seated properly.
-
If the alignment of the Captain Switch Mount isn't even on both sides, you can shimmy it a little to make it even...if it's more than an inch or so off, we recommend taking the Tacoma panel off again to prevent potential damage to the headliner or anything else.

- This is the most important part…step back and admire your new ASG Offroad Captain Switch Mount, and prepare for your next adventure as All Systems are Go for Offroad!
